Texas Education Freedom Accounts
Nexus Futbol Academy is an approved Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) participating school. Eligible families who receive a TEFA award may apply those funds toward eligible tuition expenses at Nexus.
TEFA is a State of Texas program that may provide eligible families with additional support toward educational expenses. The program is administered independently of both the Nexus admissions process and financial aid offered through the Nexus Academy Foundation. Because each has its own application and eligibility process, receiving a TEFA award does not guarantee admission to Nexus, and admission to Nexus does not guarantee TEFA funding.
Families seeking need-based financial aid through the Nexus Academy Foundation must first apply for TEFA funding. Any TEFA award received will be considered part of the family’s total tuition assistance package and applied first toward eligible tuition expenses. Nexus may offer additional need-based assistance when applicable and subject to available funding.
Application dates, eligibility requirements, and award information are established by the state and may change from year to year. Families interested in TEFA are encouraged to review the current program information and apply directly through the official TEFA website.

Financial Aid
The Nexus Academy Foundation is committed to helping make a Nexus education accessible to families who may need financial support. Limited need-based financial aid is made possible through available funding and community sponsorships. Because these resources may vary from year to year, financial-aid awards are not guaranteed. Families receiving assistance are generally expected to contribute a portion of tuition.

Any TEFA award received will be considered part of the family’s total tuition assistance package and applied first toward eligible tuition expenses. Nexus may then offer additional need-based assistance when applicable and subject to available funding.
Students receiving financial aid are also expected to participate fully in and uphold all three pillars of the Nexus program:
Academics: Meeting academic expectations, completing assigned work, and demonstrating consistent effort
Futbol: Approaching training and development with commitment, discipline, and coachability
Character: Demonstrating respect, responsibility, and integrity within the Nexus community
Approximately 30% of current Nexus students receive some form of financial assistance.

How Financial Aid is Considered
Every family’s circumstances are unique, and each financial-aid request is considered individually. The review takes into account factors such as household income and assets, the number of children attending tuition-based schools, any TEFA funding awarded to the family, and the Nexus financial-aid funding available for the year.
Although an award or specific amount of assistance cannot be guaranteed, we encourage families who may need support to apply.

How to Request Financial Aid
Families seeking financial aid through the Nexus Academy Foundation must first apply for TEFA funding. They may then indicate their interest in financial aid within the Online Application for Admission.
After the admissions application is submitted, Nexus will send the family a separate Financial Aid Application with instructions for completing the request. Any TEFA funding awarded will be considered when Nexus reviews the family’s request for additional assistance. Requesting financial aid does not affect the student’s admissions decision. Admissions and financial-aid decisions are made separately.
