An Immersive, Whole-School Approach
At Nexus Futbol Academy, we believe that language learning is an essential part of developing global citizens. Our Spanish program, led by the dynamic and passionate Señora Henderson, serves students across all grade levels, ensuring that every child benefits from high-quality, consistent instruction. From day one, students experience Spanish not just as a subject, but as a living, vibrant language woven into their daily school life.

Expert Instruction from Señora Henderson
Señora Henderson brings a wealth of experience, energy, and cultural understanding to the classroom. Her approach blends interactive teaching with authentic cultural content, making lessons both fun and deeply meaningful. Students learn through conversation, games, songs, storytelling, projects, and real-life scenarios that keep them engaged and inspired.

Progressive Learning Across All Grades
Our program is carefully structured so students grow their skills year by year:
  • Elementary Grades: Students are introduced to foundational vocabulary, pronunciation, and conversational phrases through music, visuals, and hands-on activities.
  • Middle Grades: Students build on their foundation with more complex grammar, reading, writing, and listening practice, while engaging in cultural projects and presentations.
  • High School Grades: Students achieve greater fluency and confidence, developing advanced reading and writing skills, exploring Spanish literature, and discussing real-world topics entirely in Spanish.
This progression ensures that by the time students graduate, they have a strong command of the language and a deeper appreciation for Spanish-speaking cultures worldwide.

Cultural Connections Beyond the Classroom
Señora Henderson emphasizes that language and culture go hand-in-hand. Students explore traditions, history, and current events from Spanish-speaking countries through interactive lessons, guest speakers, food, music, and celebrations of cultural events. This immersive experience nurtures empathy, understanding, and global awareness.

Supporting Student Goals and Passions
Whether students aspire to study abroad, compete internationally, or simply communicate with teammates and friends from different backgrounds, our Spanish program gives them the tools to succeed. By integrating language learning with Nexus’ core pillars—leadership, scholarship, and athletics—we prepare students to thrive in diverse environments both at home and abroad.

Spanish Program by Grade Level
  • Grades 4–5:
Three times per week, students build a strong foundation in Spanish through songs, games, visuals, and interactive activities that make language learning fun and memorable.
  • Grades 6–7:
Every day of the week, students expand their vocabulary, grammar, and conversational skills with project-based learning, cultural explorations, and more structured reading and writing activities.
  • Grades 8–10 (High School Level – Spanish 1–3):
Students in grades 8 and up progress through high school-level, NCAA-approved, Spanish that goes on their high school transcript for college admissions.  The course is enhanced and enriched for all levels of Spanish speakers. This approach allows beginners, intermediate learners, and heritage speakers alike to be challenged and supported, achieving deeper proficiency and cultural understanding, all while meeting the NCAA Division I foreign language requirements.
