Daniel Starr Putt
Director of Advancement
Daniel Starr Putt is a passionate advocate for soccer development and education, with a diverse background that spans engineering, international experiences, and coaching. He graduated with a degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas, where he developed a deep appreciation for the global nature of soccer. His journey to learn Spanish led him to live with a Costa Rican family in San José, immersing himself in the culture and language. This global perspective was further enhanced during an exchange program at Delft Technical University in Holland, where he experienced his first World Cup in 2002. Watching the USA vs. Portugal match with 20 Portuguese students at 8 AM remains one of his most cherished memories.
Daniel’s professional career took him to Venezuela and Mexico, where he gained valuable international work experience. After returning to the United States, he rekindled his love for soccer, playing in recreational leagues and eventually coaching his children's soccer teams for two years. As his children outgrew recreational soccer, Daniel sought the next phase in their development, which led him to futsal. Inspired by the benefits of futsal and the noticeable improvement in his children’s game, Daniel began to explore more advanced training opportunities. His journey brought him to Nexus Futbol Academy, where he was impressed by the high level of training and the community's commitment to soccer excellence. Realizing the time commitment required for high-level training, Daniel decided to start his own club. His goal was to continue developing his children, grow as a coach, offset soccer expenses, and provide more game-time experience for his club and the local soccer community. Daniel believes that the city is at an inflection point and that by coming together, the entire soccer community can become stronger. As the new Director of Advancement at Nexus Futbol Academy, Daniel will focus on building relationships with stakeholders, driving fundraising efforts, and enhancing the school's presence within the community. His role will involve strategic planning to ensure the sustainability and growth of the school, as well as creating opportunities for students to excel both on and off the field. Daniel's unique blend of international experience, passion for soccer, and commitment to education makes him a valuable addition to the Nexus leadership team. |
