ADMISSIONS TESTING

Insight into learning, growth, and potential.
As part of our holistic admissions process, all applicants to Nexus Futbol Academy complete an academic assessment. Testing helps us understand each student’s current level and ensure a strong fit for our program. It is one of several components we review—alongside transcripts, interviews, soccer evaluation, recommendation letters, and character review.

ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam)
All applicants to Nexus (grades 3–11) will take the ISEE, administered through the Educational Records Bureau (ERB). This exam provides a standardized measure of academic readiness and helps us place students in the right level of rigor at Nexus.

ISEE Test Levels We Use:
  • Primary: For students applying to grades 3–4
  • Lower Level: For students applying to grades 5–6
  • Middle Level: For students applying to grades 7–8
  • Upper Level: For students applying to grades 9–12
ISEE Sections:
  1. Verbal Reasoning – Vocabulary and reasoning with language
  2. Quantitative Reasoning – Math problem solving and logic
  3. Reading Comprehension – Understanding and interpreting texts
  4. Mathematics Achievement – Grade-level math skills
  5. Essay – A written response that demonstrates a student’s ability to organize and express ideas

We review percentile rankings, section scores, and the writing sample in the context of the full application. There is no single score that guarantees admission; instead, results help us determine the right academic placement and level of support for each student.

Testing Requirements & Fees
  • All admissions testing will take place through ERB.
  • Families are responsible for scheduling their child’s test directly with ERB and covering all associated fees.
  • Nexus’ ERB Member Code: 572382 (use this when registering to ensure results are sent to us).
  • Click here to learn more about ERB and register for the ISEE.

Preparing for the ISEE
Preparation is key—not only to improve scores, but to build confidence and reduce anxiety. We encourage families to:
  • Review the structure of the test in advance
  • Practice regularly with sample materials
  • Consider tutoring or guided preparation
  • Use full-length diagnostic tests to identify strengths and growth areas

Students who prepare thoughtfully tend to show their true academic potential. At Nexus, we value how a student approaches challenges as much as their score.

You can find information about the test and preparation materials on the official ERB website. Our partners at Firat Education can also provide diagnostic testing and preparation support. Please call or text (713) 725-8199 for more information.
