What This Means
We are not expanding for the sake of growth. We are deepening the experience.
- Nexus will remain in our current location in Pearland, continuing to build on its current foundation
- Significant growth from 30 last year to 56 students this year, and we learned a lot.
- Continued progress toward Cognia accreditation and global positioning
- Student body is capped at 12 students/class (4th-8th)
- Admissions reflects our executed vision with more students being denied/waitlisted than accepted this year
- Focusing on deeply developing fewer students than adding more for the sake of revenue.
- Streamlining admissions to find the right fit student
- Addition of new owners of Nexus Futbol Academy in Houston Wendy Canales and Rodrigo Petillo
Academic Program
- Introduction of the Independent Scholar Model (starting in high school for the 2026-27 school year)
- Nexus-built online courses + dual credit options
- Focus on independence, time management, and ownership
- Maintains in-person support and community
- We added Spanish classes across the school this year, and we will continue to refine it next year
- Implementation of CTP-5 standardized testing (national benchmarking) this year in April
- Weekly college admissions classes led by Ibrahim Firat
- Classroom curriculum visibility through online course pages.
Student Development
- Continued participation in iWrite program (published writing opportunities)
- Expansion of Wellness curriculum (physical, mental, nutrition)
- Addition of Game IQ + film analysis for older players
- Introduction of bi-annual parent-teacher-coach conferences starting in 2026-27
Fútbol Program
- Expanded futsal training and structured development pathways
- Alignment of afternoon training with report cards for targeted development
- Multiple students this year participated in Global X programs, more programs to be added, including a summer pre-season
- Addition of a Spanish Head Coach (in progress)
- Facility upgrades, including updated turf
Global & Professional Pathways
- Launch of Nexus Football Agency
- Led by Ibrahim (FIFA-licensed agent) and Coach Henry Costas (International Scout)
